Canceling the trip

I'm afraid we have to cancel our trip this year. We really hate to do this but it turns out we have asshole neighbors. The lady upstairs has complained about our dogs barking when we're not home. She's complained three times, our lease says that if they receive three noise complaints from a tenant they can force an eviction. The people in the leasing office realized that the lady is just a trouble maker but unfortunately she threatened to file a law suit against them so their hands are tied.

The office manager said that what they can for us (instead of telling us to leave now) is next time she complains they'll send someone over to check it out. If they hear the dogs barking for more than 15 minutes we have to move out within 15 days. You have no idea how absolutely pissed I am.

But here's what I plan on doing. The lady above is big, no she's not big, a fridge is big. She is a fat bitch. Every night when she goes to bed she makes a ruckus as she drags her fat ass across the floor. When I hear that I will call the office and complain. When she wakes up at 2am and rolls to the bathroom to piss, I will call the front office and complain. When she gets up in the morning, tears ass and pounds across the floor, I will call the front office and complain.

So what we have to do now is put the fucking dogs in a kennel when we're at work during the week. Luckily I'm home Monday's and Jeana is home Friday's so it's only three days a week. That still comes out to $600, yes six fucking hundred dollars, every six weeks. Did I mentioned how absolutely pissed I am?

What does all this have to do with our trip to Florida? Since we have to move it makes no sense to rent another apartment where we'll have the same problem, we'll only be prolonging the inevitable. We decided to buy a house and will use the trip money for the house. We were pre-approved today so now the hunt for a house begins.

But here's what I plan on doing. Once we find a place and are within two weeks of moving I'm letting the dogs loose all over the apartment. Let them bark all they want. Shit, I'll even bark once in a while. Let the fat bitch upstairs stay awake. We'll get our final warning and be asked to vacate. Since they're forcing us out of the lease we don't have to pay the two month penalty. And, for those 15 days the dogs and I will bark and bark and bark. FUCK HER!

I'm sorry guys...we were looking forward to seeing everybody again.

Did I mention how pissed I am.

Trip Dates

We moved our trip forward. Initially we wanted to leave in July. But work requirements made it tough to take time off for either of us. August and Septmenber seemed too far away so we decided on June.

We'll leave Denver June 12th and arrive in South Florida some time between June 16-18. We'll spend six days down there before taking off on the five (or six or seven) day return trip.

Change of Plans

For 2008 we planned to drive from Denver to Cabo San Lucas in Baja, those plans have been postponed. We will make that road trip, just not this year. This summer we're driving back home to Miami.

Is it cheaper to fly? Probably, but where's the fun in that. Five hours in a plane with all the interesting & cool places 30,000 feet below your feet. Who needs that!

"Yeah, but you'll get to Miami quicker". Umm...I was raised in Miami and I can tell you it aint all that. Everything that is cool is between Miami and L.A., Miami and Maine, Miami and Oregon.

We want to leave Denver sometime in July or August, check back for a definite date, and take a leisurely drive in a southeasterly direction. Our idea is to head south through New Mexico, head east across Texas, then find our way to South Florida via whatever road catches our fancy. We're planning six days driving down, six days in Miami, then "rushing" back to Denver in a five day return trip via a different route. Maybe through Greenville SC, Owensboro, Ky, and St Louis, Mo to see friends and family.

Like the last couple of trips I will update this one several times a day. You will be able to see our progress in real time.
